Brunei takes over Chairmanship from Vietnam - 1 January 2009 At the 5th Annual Conference in Ho Chi Minh City the current Chairman, Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao passed the Chairmanship to Mr Mohd Raman Shah of Brunei in the traditional ASNAF ceremony. As Mr Mohd Raman Shah could not attend the conference at the last minute, Mr Atarek Kamil Ibrahim of ASNAF member in Malaysia accepted the chairmanship token on his behalf. Mr A Junaedi of Indonesia is appointed as the Deputy Chairman. It was witnessed by ASNAF Council Members, delegates and guests. The new term of Brunei's Chairmanship starts on 1 January 2009. Mr Mohd Raman Shah in his acceptance speech elaborated what he would wish ASNAF to achieve in 2009 including the incorporation of ASNAF International Limited and strengthening the relationship between our strategic alliance partners. He also announced that in view of the impending economic downturn in Brunei Darussalam, he has proposed, and Malaysia has agreed to help organize the next ASNAF conference in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 8 - 9 October 2009.
