In view of the COVID-19 situation, it was resolved that the current council will continue their term of office for another year in 2021.

At the 16th Annual Conference 2019 in Bangkok Thailand; the current ASNAF Chairman, Mr Rohan Kamis passed the Chairmanship to Mr Tanisorn Timtiang from Thailand. ASNAF held its annual conference for 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was hosted by Hussain Farhad & Co, our ASNAF member for Bangladesh.
The conference was attended by ASNAF delegates as well as our strategic partner from Santa Fe Associates International (SFAI). We had a special guest from Auditrust. Our Indian members could not attend because it clashed with an important Indian Festival the “Durga Puja”.
Nonetheless, the conference was well reported by the news media in Bangladesh for 2 days because of the important topics that were discussed and special guests from the Bangladeshi government and accountancy authorities.
Besides the usual technical presentations and networking, the ASNAF camaraderie amongst members was further enhanced by the organisers with a night cultural performance.

At the invitation of Dr. Alfredo Spilzinger, President of Santa Fe Associates International (“SFAI”), ASNAF attended the SFAI Conference and AGM in Miami Florida USA on 2-3 November 2016. ASNAF Council nominated Rohan Kamis and Suree from Singapore to represent ASNAF.
This interaction was useful to develop a closer relationship with SFAI management and members after having signed a strategic alliance agreement earlier this year.

ASNAF council member Rohan Kamis from Singapore with Suree visited the New York ANTEA International member RBSMLLP on 31 October 2016.
They were met by the Mr Peter Stefanou Managing Partner and Ms Mei Siu, Partner. After a fruitful discussion, it was mutually agreed that ASNAF members would be pleased to help service any of their clients coming into Asia Pacific and vice versa for any ASNAF clients expanding to New York.
ASNAF held its annual conference for 2016 in The Historic City’ of Malacca in Malaysia. The conference was attended by most of its members from the ASEAN Countries notwithstanding the short notice. The 2 day conference was held at The Hatten Hotel.
The conference which was to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, was redirected to Malacca, Malaysia at the eleventh hour due to an unfortunate incident in Dhaka a few months before the conference. The conference was also attended by Santa Fe Associates International (SFAI) – our strategic partner that was represented by Mr Prakhar Banthiya. In reciprocity ASNAF has been invited to attend SFAI Conference in Miami Florida next month.

ASNAF Hon. Administrator visited for discussion of defensive referrals with a mid-size Seoul public accounting firm for ASNAF clients wishing to venture into Seoul Korea. ASNAF held its annual conference for 2015 in 'The Garden City’ of Bangalore in India. The conference was attended by most of its members from the ASEAN Countries. The conference, a two day event, was held at The Windsor Manor. The conference deliberated on a variety of issues, relevant to Accountants in today’s fast paced world; delegates benefited from the rich experience of speakers drawn from Industry who spoke on core topics such as:
While the above topics focussed on subjects of Professional interest, topics such as Yoga - simple adaptation and Work Hazards and Solutions were well received by the delegates being extremely relevant from a practical standpoint.

Hosted by Mr. Tanisorn Timtang, chairman of ASNAF, the 11th Annual conference themed as “ASNAF: Your Bridge Across ASEAN” was successfully held on 19th, 20th and 21st of October, 2014 at Philippines. The secretary of Trade & Industry, Gregory Domingo was appointed as the key note speaker. It was witnessed by ASNAF council members, delegates and guests.
The conference was started off with discussions on Asian Mutual Recognition Agreement and wide opportunities in Myanmar. Mr. Guru Prasad inspired us on how to grow a successful professional practice. Apart from the discussion on practices in various countries like Philippines, India, etc. there was a recognition of members in good standing followed by a wonderful photo session.

This interaction helped to further develop the close relationship between ASNAF and Fidunion International.
The 6th Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Rejuvenating Global Partnership: Exploring Opportunities" was successfully held on 8 - 9 October 2009 at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
The conference was well organised at The Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort by the host, Mr Wan Idris Wan Ibrahim, the ASNAF member in Sarawak, Malaysia on behalf of the ASNAF Chairman in Brunei. Mr J.M. Vandergucht represented Fidunion International at this conference. After his informative presentation, Mr Vandergucht fielded questions to help strengthen the strategic bonds between ASNAF and Fidunion International.
The delegates enjoyed the conference and true to the theme, rejuvenated the close relationship amongst themselves. Dr Sukrisno Agoes, the in-coming ASNAF Chairman for 2010, gave an enthralling presentation of the next ASNAF Conference to be hosted in Bandung, Indonesia and invited all to attend.
At the 5th Annual Conference in Ho Chi Minh City the current Chairman, Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao passed the Chairmanship to Mr Mohd Raman Shah of Brunei in the traditional ASNAF ceremony. As Mr Mohd Raman Shah could not attend the conference at the last minute, Mr Atarek Kamil Ibrahim of ASNAF member in Malaysia accepted the chairmanship token on his behalf. Mr A Junaedi of Indonesia is appointed as the Deputy Chairman. It was witnessed by ASNAF Council Members, delegates and guests. The new term of Brunei's Chairmanship starts on 1 January 2009.
Mr Mohd Raman Shah in his acceptance speech elaborated what he would wish ASNAF to achieve in 2009 including the incorporation of ASNAF International Limited and strengthening the relationship between our strategic alliance partners. He also announced that in view of the impending economic downturn in Brunei Darussalam, he has proposed, and Malaysia has agreed to help organize the next ASNAF conference in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 8 - 9 October 2009. He looks forward to welcoming all delegates to visit Kota Kinabalu and Brunei during the forthcoming ASNAF conference.
The 5th Annual ASNAF Conference was successfully concluded on 14 - 15 November 2008 at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The conference host, Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao of ASNAF member in Ho Chi Minh City has organized it well. The ASNAF members who attended the conference had good opportunity to get to know each other well.
At this conference, Fidunion International representative Mr Hans Leonard Chiaradia made a presentation about Fidunion International and fielded questions as to how to develop and strengthen the relationship between ASNAF and Fidunion International. Although SMS Latinoamerica representative, Dr Alfredo L. Spilzinger was not able to attend our conference nonetheless he has sent a presentation slide and his good wishes to all participants.
At the invitation of Fidunion International, ASNAF attended the Fidunion International Congress in Venice, Italy on 23 - 24October 2008. Mr Rohan Kamis, the Honorary Administrator from Singapore represented ASNAF.
At the conference, Mr Rohan Kamis had a private meeting with the management of Fidunion International and discussed amongst others ways to enhance the strategic alliance between Fidunion International and ASNAF.
At the 4th Annual Conference in Thailand the current Chairman, Mr Tanisorn Timtiang passed the Chairmanship to Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao of Hanoi Vietnam in the traditional ASNAF ceremony. Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao in his acceptance speech, welcomed all delegates to visit Vietnam at the next ASNAF Conference in Hanoi. He mentioned that the next Conference in Vietnam would involve the participation of both ASNAF members and would enable delegates to visit Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
The 4th Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Developing the Sense of Camaraderie" was successfully concluded on 9 - 10 November 2007 at the Long Beach Garden Hotel & Spa, Pattaya, Thailand. The conference host, Mr Tanisorn Timtiang of ASNAF member in Thailand did not spare any effort to make this conference a relaxed one in line with the theme in developing the sense of camaraderie among ASNAF members who attended the conference.
Besides being briefed about the business environment and learning from the experience of Thailand's business and government leaders, ASNAF Thailand office displayed the legendary good Thai hospitality to all delegates and guests.
At the invitation of Fidunion International, ASNAF attended the Fidunion International Congress in Warsaw, Poland on 25 - 26 October 2007. ASNAF was represented by Honorary Administrator, Mr Rohan Kamis from Singapore.
At the conference, Mr Rohan Kamis had a private meeting with the Management of Fidunion International. Amongst others, the strategic alliance with SMS Latinoamerica was discussed.
ASNAF has signed a Strategic Alliance with SMS Latinoamerica a regional organization integrated by independent of local professionals in the areas of auditing, consultancy and accountancy in Central and South America.
The Strategic Alliance was signed on 21 August 2007 by Dr Alfredo L. Spilzinger Chairman of SMS Latinoamerica and Mr Tanisorn Timtiang, ASNAF Chairman. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr P. San Martin and Mr Rohan Kamis. At the signing ceremony, Dr Alfredo L. Spilzinger said "we foresee our profession within the next years changing from big multination firms with offices throughout the world, to a network of networks. That is a Latin American network allied with an Asian network, and with other network in the Arab world, another in Europe and finally with a US real network". In response to this, Mr Tanisorn Timtiang agreed and commented "that he is equally delighted with this Strategic Alliance as it enlarges ASNAF members clients servicing capabilities into the fast growing Central and South American region".

The 3rd Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Moving Ahead Together" was successfully concluded on 10 - 11 November 2006 at The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore. The guest-of-honour was Mr S Iswaran, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry. He opened the ASNAF Conference 2006 and delivered the keynote address. It was attended by about 40 delegates and spouses. ASNAF Strategic Alliance Partner, Fidunion International was represented by its board member from London Mr Alan Cohen.
Associate Prof Mak Yuen Teen, Director, Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting Centre delivered a most interesting lecture entitled "Recent Corporate Scandals in Singapore - Lessons Learnt?" The following day, the delegates and spouses were given a lecture with audience participation by Master Tek Siaw of Hsin-I Tai-chi Institute to achieve "a peace of mind with a touch of Tai-chi."
The Conference dinner was held at the Old Parliament House. Before dinner, the delegates and spouses were treated to a tour of the Old Parliament House. During dinner, they were enthralled by a roving magician who performed up close magic tricks at each table. At his acceptance speech, Rohan paid tribute to Cherry Bernaldo for her leadership in growing ASNAF and promised to build on the strong foundation that was laid by both Cherry and Atarek. He also sought the continued support and contributions of ASNAF members to implement the expansion programme that has just been approved by the ASNAF Council. Rohan was cheered when the members present gave a resounding "Yes" to his request.
ASNAF successfully concluded its 2nd annual conference held on 11 - 12 November 2005 at The Peninsula Manila in The Philippines. ASNAF Chairman, Ms Cherry Bernaldo hosted this conference, which was attended by 22 delegates from ASNAF member firms. Representing Fidunion International, ASNAF Strategic Alliance Partner was Mr Bernard Hauss, Fidunion Vice Chairman who came from Paris with his wife.
The conference theme "Rationalizing Governance and Accounting Standards: A Challenge to Asian Accounting Firms" was well deliberated after a keynote address delivered by The Philippines Central Bank Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. Another guest speaker Ms Mercedes B. Suleik presented a paper, which was well received, on "Challenges of Corporate Governance in ASEAN".
The delegates and their spouses also had the opportunity to build a closer rapport and this augurs well for ASNAF's future.
Shekha & Mufti and Rauf Ayoob & Co, two mid-sized full service firms of chartered accountants in Karachi, Pakistan have joined ASNAF.
Both firms are well placed to assist any foreign companies to set up operations in Pakistan. They are managed and staffed by professionals that obtain their training and experience with the Big Four international accounting firms.

V.V. Kale & Co has joined ASNAF to cover New Delhi. With its 10 partners and consultants and supported by its more than 50 professional staff, V.V. Kale & Co with its network of associates in Northern India is well positioned to help ASNAF clients in their business operations.
Goldsac Consultancy and Willsonn Partners, two mid-sized firms with headquarters in Shanghai, China that provide consultancy, corporate and accounting services have joined ASNAF.
Both firms with their associates specialise in helping foreign companies to set up operations in Shanghai and Beijing. They would be opening branch offices in other cities in China in due course. Their clients appreciate their one-stop total services approach.
Martin Artenstein of Morris Cohen Glen & Co in Melbourne contacted ASNAF in April 2004. He mentioned that several mid-sized public accounting firms would wish to join ASNAF. After several discussions, ASNAF Council was persuaded by Martin Artenstein to expand ASNAF reach out of Asia to include Australasia.
Towards this end, ASNAF Chairman, Cherry Bernaldo asked IPC Atarek Kamil and Administrator Rohan Kamis to visit the three firms with a personal invitation from her to join ASNAF. The visits to meet the partners of the three accounting firms were done on the following dates:
ASNAF Strategic Alliance Agreement with Integra International lapsed due to a sunset clause last October 2004. Integra has offered to renew this agreement without the sunset clause. However, taking cognisance of recent Integra-initiated events, ASNAF Council has decided to dissociate ASNAF from them.
Therefore ASNAF did not renew the Strategic Alliance Agreement, as it is no longer mutually beneficial.
Pioneer Management Co, a mid-sized firm of Certified Public Accountants, has joined ASNAF as its 7th core member representing Vietnam. Mr Bui Van Tuynh, who has 3 partners, manages this public accounting firm in providing audit, consultancy and corporate finance services.
In Hanoi, Pioneer has a joint venture with SCS Global, a Japanese consultancy firm, to provide supporting services to Japanese companies investing in Vietnam in terms of accountancy, consultancy, market research and secretarial services.
At the invitation of Fidunion International, ASNAF attended the Fidunion International Congress in Vienna, Austria on 14 & 15 October 2004. ASNAF was represented by Chairman Atarek Kamil and ASNAF partners, Steven Choong (Malaysia) and Rohan Kamis (Singapore). ASNAF made a presentation to the Congress introducing ASNAF and its member firms as well as doing business in Asia.
Both ASNAF Chairman Atarek Kamil and Fidunion President Renato Cinelli were delighted with the meeting and hoped that there will be more and regular participation of ASNAF members in future Fidunion Congress. This would strengthen the cordial relationship that was developed since ASNAF signed the strategic alliance agreement with Fidunion in November 2002.
Doing a European tour, ASNAF Chairman Atarek Kamil with ASNAF partners Atma Bari (Bangladesh), Steven Choong (Malaysia) and Rohan Kamis (Singapore) visited Wilder Coe's office in London and BF Consulting's office in Vienna.
They met the partners of both Integra members with the view of strengthening the cordial relationships for future defensive referrals. In London they were pleased to be joined by Johan DeMey, Integra Europe President and Colin Meager, Integra member from Birmingham.
Atarek hoped that there would be more frequent visits amongst ASNAF and Integra members as this would develop a better rapport - much to our client's advantage in servicing their overseas operations.
ASNAF had its first Conference on 16 September 2004 at Hotel Mutiara in Kuala Lumpur. The current chairman Atarek Kamil Ibrahim of ASNAF Malaysia hosted the Conference, which was attended by ASNAF members and associates. Mr Johan De Mey, President of Integra International was also present.
At the end of the Conference, Atarek handed over the chairmanship to Ms Cherry Bernaldo of Philippines. Cherry will be the new ASNAF Chairman for a year with effect from 1 January 2005.

This 75-year old firm of Chartered Accountants based in Mumbai has an associate in New Delhi, which would be joining us soon. ASNAF has signed a strategic alliance with Fidunion International, a group of professionals, auditing and accounting firms, and consultants who are motivated by the desire to combine their skills and resources to develop an efficient, innovative and high quality service for their clients.
Fidunion International was created in 1991 by member firms in Germany, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg and Switzerland. It is currently represented by 29 member countries with over 260 offices. With this arrangement, ASNAF members would be able to service their clients who would wish to expand their business outside the ASEAN region.
The strategic alliance agreement was signed in Rome, Italy on 16 October 2002 by Mr Renato Cinelli, Chairman of Fidunion International with Mr Atarek Kamil Ibrahim, ASNAF Chairman. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ms Maria Teresa Venuta and Mr Rohan Kamis.
At the signing ceremony, Fidunion International Chairman Mr Renato Cinelli said "The alliance with ASNAF will provide Fidunion International firms with valuable and reliable references for their clients in the Far East. ASNAF has signed a strategic alliance with Integra International, an interactive global network of independent accounting and consultancy firms. Founded in 1994, Integra is fast growing and now has over 70 offices worldwide covering the four continents of Australia, Europe, North America and South America. With this arrangement, ASNAF members would be able to service their clients who would wish to expand their businesses outside the ASEAN region.
Mr Richard Purcell, Integra Administrator who conducted the due diligence on ASNAF members from 28 August to 3 September 2002 commented that he is happy with the standards of accounting and auditing practiced by the ASNAF members. In fact "all financial statements disclosures exceeded those of Canada and USA." Furthermore with this ASNAF alliance, Integra has expanded its reach with six new firms and 15 new office locations in South-East Asia.
When Mr Atarek Kamil, ASNAF Chairman signed the agreement he was pleased to comment "This new alliance would provide clients of ASNAF members the Integra network which is both reliable and friendly. This is in line with ASNAF objective to continually improve its services to its clients in accordance with international accounting standards and best business practices."

ASNAF has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International (TAGI), the largest and leading group of professional firm in the Arab world. TAGI has more than 22 offices in the Middle East. With this arrangement ASNAF clients would have easy access into the Middle East to expand their businesses.
When Mr Atarek Kamil, ASNAF Chairman signed the agreement with Prof John Small who signed on behalf of TAGI, he commented "This alliance would provide instant access and better service for all ASNAF members into the Middle East. Correspondingly many Arab companies would be able to avail themselves to ASNAF members spectrum of services. This augurs well for both organisations as this alliance has been structured on a mutually beneficial business relationship."

ASNAF has grown to 6-strong, with the joining of Adisorn & Associates Ltd of Thailand. Mr Adisorn Timtiang manages a mid-size public accounting firm providing audit, tax, corporate secretarial, accounting and business consultancy. ASNAF held its annual conference for 2018 in The Leela Goa, India. It was hosted by Jayesh Sanghrajka & Co. LLP, our ASNAF member for Mumbai, India.

At the 15th Annual Conference 2017 in Dhaka Bangladesh, the current ASNAF Chairman, Mr. Atarek Kamil Ibrahim passed the Chairmanship to Ms Cherry Bernaldo from the Philippines. In the traditional ASNAF ceremony, Mr Rohan Kamis from Singapore was appointed as Deputy Chairman. It was witnessed by ASNAF council members, delegates and guests.
The new term of Philippines ASNAF Chairmanship starts on 1 January 2018. Ms Cherry Bernaldo as the incoming ASNAF Chairman welcomed all delegates to visit India for the next ASNAF Conference 2018, which will be organized by Mr Jayesh Sanghrajka from Jayesh Sanghrajka & Co LLP, a member of ASNAF in Mumbai, India.
ASNAF has signed an exclusive strategic alliance agreement with SBC Global Alliance (“SBC”), a new international association of accounting firms, that has the same objectives as ASNAF – high professional standards of servicing our clients business expansion outside our Asian region.
SBC () is a global network of leading independent accountancy firms that provides audit, tax, accounting, assurance and business advisory services around the world.
The signing ceremony that was held in Singapore, was between SBC Chairman Paul Tutin from London and ASNAF Hon Administrator Rohan Kamis. ASNAF Chairman Atarek Kamil Ibrahim who came down from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia just to witness this historic event said, “With this arrangement, ASNAF members would be able to better service their clients that wish to expand their businesses outside the ASIAN region comfortably with professional help
ASNAF held its annual conference for 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was hosted by Hussain Farhad & Co, our ASNAF member for Bangladesh.
The conference was attended by ASNAF delegates as well as our strategic partner from Santa Fe Associates International (SFAI). We had a special guest from Auditrust. Our Indian members could not attend because it clashed with an important Indian Festival the “Durga Puja”.
Nonetheless, the conference was well reported by the news media in Bangladesh for 2 days because of the important topics that were discussed and special guests from the Bangladeshi government and accountancy authorities.
Besides the usual technical presentations and networking, the ASNAF camaraderie amongst members was further enhanced by the organisers with a night cultural performance.

During this conference, ASNAF met with the CPAsNET (www.cpasnet.com) President Ms Sarah Johnson Dobek and a strategic alliance was discussed. This would enable ASNAF and CPAsNet to use each other networks to have better defensive referrals in USA and Asia too.

At the invitation of Dr. Alfredo Spilzinger, President of Santa Fe Associates International (“SFAI”), ASNAF attended the SFAI Conference and AGM in Miami Florida USA on 2-3 November 2016. ASNAF Council nominated Rohan Kamis and Suree from Singapore to represent ASNAF.
This interaction was useful to develop a closer relationship with SFAI management and members after having signed a strategic alliance agreement earlier this year.

ASNAF council member Rohan Kamis from Singapore with Suree visited the New York ANTEA International member RBSMLLP on 31 October 2016.
They were met by the Mr Peter Stefanou Managing Partner and Ms Mei Siu, Partner. After a fruitful discussion, it was mutually agreed that ASNAF members would be pleased to help service any of their clients coming into Asia Pacific and vice versa for any ASNAF clients expanding to New York.
ASNAF held its annual conference for 2016 in The Historic City’ of Malacca in Malaysia. The conference was attended by most of its members from the ASEAN Countries notwithstanding the short notice. The 2 day conference was held at The Hatten Hotel.
The conference which was to be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, was redirected to Malacca, Malaysia at the eleventh hour due to an unfortunate incident in Dhaka a few months before the conference. The conference was also attended by Santa Fe Associates International (SFAI) – our strategic partner that was represented by Mr Prakhar Banthiya. In reciprocity ASNAF has been invited to attend SFAI Conference in Miami Florida next month.

ASNAF Hon. Administrator visited for discussion of defensive referrals with a mid-size Seoul public accounting firm for ASNAF clients wishing to venture into Seoul Korea. ASNAF is looking for a suitable member firm in Seoul, meanwhile this firm will help look after ASNAF clients’ professional corporate service needs as ASNAF correspondent firm there.

ASNAF held its annual conference for 2015 in 'The Garden City’ of Bangalore in India. The conference was attended by most of its members from the ASEAN Countries. The conference, a two day event, was held at The Windsor Manor. The conference deliberated on a variety of issues, relevant to Accountants in today’s fast paced world; delegates benefited from the rich experience of speakers drawn from Industry who spoke on core topics such as:
While the above topics focussed on subjects of Professional interest, topics such as Yoga - simple adaptation and Work Hazards and Solutions were well received by the delegates being extremely relevant from a practical standpoint.
The Conference ended with a visit by the delegates to ‘The Royal City of Mysore' - which housed the rulers of the State.
ASNAF was invited to have a strategic alliance with IAC (International Accountants Consortium www.iaceurope.com). Hosted by Mr. Tanisorn Timtang, chairman of ASNAF, the 11th Annual conference themed as “ASNAF: Your Bridge Across ASEAN” was successfully held on 19th, 20th and 21st of October, 2014 at Philippines. The secretary of Trade & Industry, Gregory Domingo was appointed as the key note speaker. It was witnessed by ASNAF council members, delegates and guests.
The conference was started off with discussions on Asian Mutual Recognition Agreement and wide opportunities in Myanmar. Mr. Guru Prasad inspired us on how to grow a successful professional practice. Apart from the discussion on practices in various countries like Philippines, India, etc. there was a recognition of members in good standing followed by a wonderful photo session.
Following day was taken off with discussions and debates on US Income tax by Mr. Christopher Martin Klug. Mr.Rohan Kamis (former chairman of ASNAF) talked about ASNAF initiatives and the conference was concluded with creating offshore companies in various jurisdictions headed by Ms. Jenny Tan.

The 10th Annual ASNAF Conference was successfully hosted on 3 and 4 October 2013 in Hong Kong. The conference was held at World Trade Centre Club, Hong Kong by the host, ASNAF member Mr Jesse Leung of Hong Kong. The strategic partner, Fidunion International (now known as PrimeGlobal France), was represented by Mr Bernard Hauss. We also had as special guests from Buzzacott LLP, Mr Carlo Gray and Ms Ishali Patel.

The 9th Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Partners in Growth" was successfully hosted on 1 and 2 November 2012 in India. The 7th Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Exploring the Opportunities Through Rejuvenating the Global Partnership" was successfully hosted on 7 and 8 October 2010 in Bandung, Indonesia. The conference was held at the Sheraton Hotel & Tower, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, by the host, Dr Sukrisno Agoes, ASNAF Chairman in Jakarta, Indonesia. Fidunion International was well represented by Mr Jean-Marie Vandergucht, President, and Mr Hans Chiaradia, Treasurer. In addition, a Fidunion member, Mr Giulio Veneri from Verona, Italy, joined us as a delegate.

This interaction helped to further develop the close relationship between ASNAF and Fidunion International.
The 6th Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Rejuvenating Global Partnership: Exploring Opportunities" was successfully held on 8 - 9 October 2009 at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The conference was well organised at The Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort by the host, Mr Wan Idris Wan Ibrahim, the ASNAF member in Sarawak, Malaysia on behalf of the ASNAF Chairman in Brunei. Mr J.M. Vandergucht represented Fidunion International at this conference. After his informative presentation, Mr Vandergucht fielded questions to help strengthen the strategic bonds between ASNAF and Fidunion International.
The delegates enjoyed the conference and true to the theme, rejuvenated the close relationship amongst themselves. Dr Sukrisno Agoes, the in-coming ASNAF Chairman for 2010, gave an enthralling presentation of the next ASNAF Conference to be hosted in Bandung, Indonesia and invited all to attend.
At the 5th Annual Conference in Ho Chi Minh City the current Chairman, Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao passed the Chairmanship to Mr Mohd Raman Shah of Brunei in the traditional ASNAF ceremony. As Mr Mohd Raman Shah could not attend the conference at the last minute, Mr Atarek Kamil Ibrahim of ASNAF member in Malaysia accepted the chairmanship token on his behalf. Mr A Junaedi of Indonesia is appointed as the Deputy Chairman. It was witnessed by ASNAF Council Members, delegates and guests. The new term of Brunei's Chairmanship starts on 1 January 2009.
Mr Mohd Raman Shah in his acceptance speech elaborated what he would wish ASNAF to achieve in 2009 including the incorporation of ASNAF International Limited and strengthening the relationship between our strategic alliance partners. He also announced that in view of the impending economic downturn in Brunei Darussalam, he has proposed, and Malaysia has agreed to help organize the next ASNAF conference in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on 8 - 9 October 2009. He looks forward to welcoming all delegates to visit Kota Kinabalu and Brunei during the forthcoming ASNAF conference.
ASNAF Chairman, Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao has organized for ASNAF delegates to visit Hanoi after the ASNAF Conference. We also took the opportunity to visit ASNAF Hanoi office. We were graciously welcomed by Mr Nguyen Mai Long who showed us around his new office and introduced us to his senior colleagues.
The 5th Annual ASNAF Conference was successfully concluded on 14 - 15 November 2008 at Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The conference host, Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao of ASNAF member in Ho Chi Minh City has organized it well. The ASNAF members who attended the conference had good opportunity to get to know each other well.
At this conference, Fidunion International representative Mr Hans Leonard Chiaradia made a presentation about Fidunion International and fielded questions as to how to develop and strengthen the relationship between ASNAF and Fidunion International. Although SMS Latinoamerica representative, Dr Alfredo L. Spilzinger was not able to attend our conference nonetheless he has sent a presentation slide and his good wishes to all participants.
At the invitation of Fidunion International, ASNAF attended the Fidunion International Congress in Venice, Italy on 23 - 24October 2008. Mr Rohan Kamis, the Honorary Administrator from Singapore represented ASNAF. At the conference, Mr Rohan Kamis had a private meeting with the management of Fidunion International and discussed amongst others ways to enhance the strategic alliance between Fidunion International and ASNAF.

Mr Nguyen Nhan Bao in his acceptance speech, welcomed all delegates to visit Vietnam at the next ASNAF Conference in Hanoi. He mentioned that the next Conference in Vietnam would involve the participation of both ASNAF members and would enable delegates to visit Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
The 4th Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Developing the Sense of Camaraderie" was successfully concluded on 9 - 10 November 2007 at the Long Beach Garden Hotel & Spa, Pattaya, Thailand. The conference host, Mr Tanisorn Timtiang of ASNAF member in Thailand did not spare any effort to make this conference a relaxed one in line with the theme in developing the sense of camaraderie among ASNAF members who attended the conference. Besides being briefed about the business environment and learning from the experience of Thailand's business and government leaders, ASNAF Thailand office displayed the legendary good Thai hospitality to all delegates and guests.
At the invitation of Fidunion International, ASNAF attended the Fidunion International Congress in Warsaw, Poland on 25 - 26 October 2007. ASNAF was represented by Honorary Administrator, Mr Rohan Kamis from Singapore. At the conference, Mr Rohan Kamis had a private meeting with the Management of Fidunion International. Amongst others, the strategic alliance with SMS Latinoamerica was discussed.
ASNAF has signed a Strategic Alliance with SMS Latinoamerica a regional organization integrated by independent of local professionals in the areas of auditing, consultancy and accountancy in Central and South America.
The Strategic Alliance was signed on 21 August 2007 by Dr Alfredo L. Spilzinger Chairman of SMS Latinoamerica and Mr Tanisorn Timtiang, ASNAF Chairman. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr P. San Martin and Mr Rohan Kamis. At the signing ceremony, Dr Alfredo L. Spilzinger said "we foresee our profession within the next years changing from big multination firms with offices throughout the world, to a network of networks. That is a Latin American network allied with an Asian network, and with other network in the Arab world, another in Europe and finally with a US real network". In response to this, Mr Tanisorn Timtiang agreed and commented "that he is equally delighted with this Strategic Alliance as it enlarges ASNAF members clients servicing capabilities into the fast growing Central and South American region". At the third ASNAF Conference in Singapore, the current Chairman Rohan Kamis passes the chairmanship to Tanisorn Timtiang of Thailand in the traditional ASNAF Handover Ceremony. Bui Van Tuynh of Vietnam is appointed as the Deputy Chairman. It was witnessed by the ASNAF Council Members, together with 40 delegates and invited guests. The new term for Thailand's ASNAF Chairmanship starts on 1 January 2007.
Tanisorn, at his acceptance speech, welcomes all delegates to visit Bangkok for the next ASNAF Conference. He also promises to develop further the sense of camaraderie amongst members.
The 3rd Annual ASNAF Conference with the theme "Moving Ahead Together" was successfully concluded on 10 - 11 November 2006 at The Fullerton Hotel in Singapore. The guest-of-honour was Mr S Iswaran, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry. He opened the ASNAF Conference 2006 and delivered the keynote address. It was attended by about 40 delegates and spouses. ASNAF Strategic Alliance Partner, Fidunion International was represented by its board member from London Mr Alan Cohen.
Associate Prof Mak Yuen Teen, Director, Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting Centre delivered a most interesting lecture entitled "Recent Corporate Scandals in Singapore - Lessons Learnt?" The following day, the delegates and spouses were given a lecture with audience participation by Master Tek Siaw of Hsin-I Tai-chi Institute to achieve "a peace of mind with a touch of Tai-chi."
The Conference dinner was held at the Old Parliament House. Before dinner, the delegates and spouses were treated to a tour of the Old Parliament House. During dinner, they were enthralled by a roving magician who performed up close magic tricks at each table. ASNAF Conference 2006 has afforded the delegates and the spouses the opportunity to develop a closer rapport among the members.

Two CPA firms have joined the ASNAF network: Eng & Co in Shanghai, China, Thang Long Auditing JSC in Hanoi, Vietnam. With the above firms, ASNAF network services to its clients would be further enhanced in both Vietnam and China.
At the recent ASNAF Conference in Manila, Chairman Cherry Bernaldo passes the Chairmanship to Rohan Kamis of Singapore in the traditional ASNAF handover ceremony. Adisorn Timtiang of Thailand is appointed as the Deputy Chairman. It was witnessed by the Founding Chairman Atarek Kamil Ibrahim together with 22 delegates and invited guests. At his acceptance speech, Rohan paid tribute to Cherry Bernaldo for her leadership in growing ASNAF and promised to build on the strong foundation that was laid by both Cherry and Atarek. He also sought the continued support and contributions of ASNAF members to implement the expansion programme that has just been approved by the ASNAF Council. Rohan was cheered when the members present gave a resounding "Yes" to his request.
ASNAF successfully concluded its 2nd annual conference held on 11 - 12 November 2005 at The Peninsula Manila in The Philippines. ASNAF Chairman, Ms Cherry Bernaldo hosted this conference, which was attended by 22 delegates from ASNAF member firms. Representing Fidunion International, ASNAF Strategic Alliance Partner was Mr Bernard Hauss, Fidunion Vice Chairman who came from Paris with his wife.
The conference theme "Rationalizing Governance and Accounting Standards: A Challenge to Asian Accounting Firms" was well deliberated after a keynote address delivered by The Philippines Central Bank Governor Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. Another guest speaker Ms Mercedes B. Suleik presented a paper, which was well received, on "Challenges of Corporate Governance in ASEAN". The delegates and their spouses also had the opportunity to build a closer rapport and this augurs well for ASNAF's future.

Shekha & Mufti and Rauf Ayoob & Co, two mid-sized full service firms of chartered accountants in Karachi, Pakistan have joined ASNAF. Both firms are well placed to assist any foreign companies to set up operations in Pakistan. They are managed and staffed by professionals that obtain their training and experience with the Big Four international accounting firms.
ASNAF has admitted another associate for India. V.V. Kale & Co has joined ASNAF to cover New Delhi. With its 10 partners and consultants and supported by its more than 50 professional staff, V.V. Kale & Co with its network of associates in Northern India is well positioned to help ASNAF clients in their business operations.
Goldsac Consultancy and Willsonn Partners, two mid-sized firms with headquarters in Shanghai, China that provide consultancy, corporate and accounting services have joined ASNAF. Both firms with their associates specialise in helping foreign companies to set up operations in Shanghai and Beijing. They would be opening branch offices in other cities in China in due course. Their clients appreciate their one-stop total services approach.
Martin Artenstein of Morris Cohen Glen & Co in Melbourne contacted ASNAF in April 2004. He mentioned that several mid-sized public accounting firms would wish to join ASNAF. After several discussions, ASNAF Council was persuaded by Martin Artenstein to expand ASNAF reach out of Asia to include Australasia.
Towards this end, ASNAF Chairman, Cherry Bernaldo asked IPC Atarek Kamil and Administrator Rohan Kamis to visit the three firms with a personal invitation from her to join ASNAF.
ASNAF Strategic Alliance Agreement with Integra International lapsed due to a sunset clause last October 2004. Integra has offered to renew this agreement without the sunset clause. However, taking cognisance of recent Integra-initiated events, ASNAF Council has decided to dissociate ASNAF from them. Therefore ASNAF did not renew the Strategic Alliance Agreement, as it is no longer mutually beneficial.
Pioneer Management Co, a mid-sized firm of Certified Public Accountants, has joined ASNAF as its 7th core member representing Vietnam. Mr Bui Van Tuynh, who has 3 partners, manages this public accounting firm in providing audit, consultancy and corporate finance services. In Hanoi, Pioneer has a joint venture with SCS Global, a Japanese consultancy firm, to provide supporting services to Japanese companies investing in Vietnam in terms of accountancy, consultancy, market research and secretarial services.
At the invitation of Fidunion International, ASNAF attended the Fidunion International Congress in Vienna, Austria on 14 & 15 October 2004. ASNAF was represented by Chairman Atarek Kamil and ASNAF partners, Steven Choong (Malaysia) and Rohan Kamis (Singapore). ASNAF made a presentation to the Congress introducing ASNAF and its member firms as well as doing business in Asia. Both ASNAF Chairman Atarek Kamil and Fidunion President Renato Cinelli were delighted with the meeting and hoped that there will be more and regular participation of ASNAF members in future Fidunion Congress. This would strengthen the cordial relationship that was developed since ASNAF signed the strategic alliance agreement with Fidunion in November 2002.
Doing a European tour, ASNAF Chairman Atarek Kamil with ASNAF partners Atma Bari (Bangladesh), Steven Choong (Malaysia) and Rohan Kamis (Singapore) visited Wilder Coe's office in London and BF Consulting's office in Vienna. They met the partners of both Integra members with the view of strengthening the cordial relationships for future defensive referrals. In London they were pleased to be joined by Johan DeMey, Integra Europe President and Colin Meager, Integra member from Birmingham. Atarek hoped that there would be more frequent visits amongst ASNAF and Integra members as this would develop a better rapport - much to our client's advantage in servicing their overseas operations.
ASNAF had its first Conference on 16 September 2004 at Hotel Mutiara in Kuala Lumpur. The current chairman Atarek Kamil Ibrahim of ASNAF Malaysia hosted the Conference, which was attended by ASNAF members and associates. Mr Johan De Mey, President of Integra International was also present. At the end of the Conference, Atarek handed over the chairmanship to Ms Cherry Bernaldo of Philippines. Cherry will be the new ASNAF Chairman for a year with effect from 1 January 2005.

This 75-year old firm of Chartered Accountants based in Mumbai has an associate in New Delhi, which would be joining us soon. GAJMA was formed in 1997 by two partners from one of the Big Four public accounting firms. Based in Colombo, they specialized in tax and high-valued added works for local and international clients. ASNAF has admitted its first associate member. ACNABIN & Co. has joined ASNAF as an associate member for Bangladesh. ACNABIN is a large firm of Chartered Accountants in Dhaka, Bangladesh which was founded in 1985 by 7 partners.
ASNAF has signed a strategic alliance with Fidunion International, a group of professionals, auditing and accounting firms, and consultants who are motivated by the desire to combine their skills and resources to develop an efficient, innovative and high quality service for their clients. Fidunion International was created in 1991 by member firms in Germany, Belgium, Burkina Faso, Spain, France, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg and Switzerland. It is currently represented by 29 member countries with over 260 offices. With this arrangement, ASNAF members would be able to service their clients who would wish to expand their business outside the ASEAN region.
The strategic alliance agreement was signed in Rome, Italy on 16 October 2002 by Mr Renato Cinelli, Chairman of Fidunion International with Mr Atarek Kamil Ibrahim, ASNAF Chairman. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Ms Maria Teresa Venuta and Mr Rohan Kamis. At the signing ceremony, Fidunion International Chairman Mr Renato Cinelli said "The alliance with ASNAF will provide Fidunion International firms with valuable and reliable references for their clients in the Far East. Our networks will ensure an outstanding professional service." To which ASNAF Chairman Mr Atarek Kamil agreed and commented "ASNAF members would also be pleased with this alliance as it enhances further their ability to service their clients well outside the ASEAN region."
ASNAF has signed a strategic alliance with Integra International, an interactive global network of independent accounting and consultancy firms. Founded in 1994, Integra is fast growing and now has over 70 offices worldwide covering the four continents of Australia, Europe, North America and South America. With this arrangement, ASNAF members would be able to service their clients who would wish to expand their businesses outside the ASEAN region. Mr Richard Purcell, Integra Administrator who conducted the due diligence on ASNAF members from 28 August to 3 September 2002 commented that he is happy with the standards of accounting and auditing practiced by the ASNAF members. In fact "all financial statements disclosures exceeded those of Canada and USA." Furthermore with this ASNAF alliance, Integra has expanded its reach with six new firms and 15 new office locations in South-East Asia.
When Mr Atarek Kamil, ASNAF Chairman signed the agreement he was pleased to comment "This new alliance would provide clients of ASNAF members the Integra network which is both reliable and friendly. This is in line with ASNAF objective to continually improve its services to its clients in accordance with international accounting standards and best business practices."
ASNAF has signed a strategic alliance agreement with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International (TAGI), the largest and leading group of professional firm in the Arab world. TAGI has more than 22 offices in the Middle East. With this arrangement ASNAF clients would have easy access into the Middle East to expand their businesses.
When Mr Atarek Kamil, ASNAF Chairman signed the agreement with Prof John Small who signed on behalf of TAGI, he commented "This alliance would provide instant access and better service for all ASNAF members into the Middle East. Correspondingly many Arab companies would be able to avail themselves to ASNAF members spectrum of services. This augurs well for both organisations as this alliance has been structured on a mutually beneficial business relationship."
ASNAF has grown to 6-strong, with the joining of Adisorn & Associates Ltd of Thailand. Mr Adisorn Timtiang manages a mid-size public accounting firm providing audit, tax, corporate secretarial, accounting and business consultancy. He also manages a legal firm called ATS Legal Cousellors Ltd with 2 other partners.
